MTA Lions Shock Hillel Heat in Deal

The MTA Lions and Hillel Heat faced off in Deal, NJ on the afternoon of Sunday, December 8th. After getting blown out 73-40 in their most recent matchup (at the Memphis Invitational Tournament), MTA came back with a vengeance and pulled off a huge 51-46 win.

Josh Treuhaft had another monster performance for MTA, this time delivering 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

This game was intense from start to finish, and the Lions proved that they belong in the conversation as one of the top teams in the league. Senior Josh Treuhaft was an absolute beast, dominating in the paint with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks. His presence under the rim didn't allow Hillel to attack the basket without working hard for it. Fellow senior Jakey Abenaim was on fire, leading the team with 19 points while dishing out 11 assists and grabbing 3 rebounds. It felt like every time MTA needed a big play and Hillel needed a stop, Jakey delivered for the Lions.

Junior guard Efraim Avramov chipped in 8 points, hitting some clutch shots when the Lions needed them most. Andi Richman added 5 points, and Gavi Engel was a defensive anchor with 4 blocks, locking down Hillel’s offense late in the game.

This win was huge for MTA, especially after what happened in their last game against Hillel. The Lions showed a ton of heart and fought hard to prove they’re a legit team. With the victory, MTA improved to 6-1, while Hillel dropped to 4-2.
